Sea-Tac Airport gets around 34 million air passengers a year and the facility doesn’t discriminate against its junior jet setters and their adult companions. The airport has a handful of kid-friendly amenities including 13 family restrooms, a family lane at TSA check points and drinking fountains that make cool gurgling sounds.
Here are five more great things to know before your layover or flight in the Emerald City:
01. Kids Play Room
The brightly colored play area can be found right between the Central Terminal and A Gates. Plenty of room to get the wiggles out here, with soft floors and oversized toys modeled after airport vehicles. There’s also a kid-friendly restroom attached.
If you are looking for a quiet place to relax with the kiddos, Gate B4 is a Quiet Zone. Wifi? Yes, but no TVs or overhead announcements here.
02. Mother’s Room
Inside the Play Room area is the Mother’s Room (these are becoming a Pacific Northwest staple) a discreet space for moms to nurse, pump and cuddle their babies. The room has three rocking chairs with footstools, electrical outlets and dim lighting.
03. Meal with a view
The Central Terminal’s 60-by-350 foot window is a fantastic place to sit down – or press your nose against the glass – get a bite to eat (it’s essentially the food court) and watch the planes take off and land. Grab a rocking chair if you can find one not already being used.
04. Get a new movie
…and keep the kids quiet all flight. You have one last chance for entertainment here; Digiboo’s bright orange movie kiosks are available pre-security between the ticket counters and TSA checkpoints.
05. Mommy time!
Sea-Tac has a butter LONDON shop located at the C Gates and offers manicure and pedicure services. (If only they offered babysitting as well.) No appointment is needed, and they are open from 6am – 9pm, Monday – Thursday, 6am – 10pm on Fridays, 6am – 8pm on Saturdays, and 7am – 9pm on Sundays. Prices range from $20 for manicures, $25 for pedicures and $20 for eyebrow waxing.
For some possible daddy time check out the Massage Bar, which starts at $21 for a 15-minute massage.
Car seats and strollers can be rented at Ken’s Baggage and Frozen Food Storage.
