Father’s Day is celebrated at different times around the world. If you will be traveling abroad during *your* Father’s Day use this to your advantage by planning something special for dad/hubby that won’t be overpriced or overcrowded! Sticking around? With a few minor adjustments these ideas can work anywhere!
Here are five things you can do to celebrate Father’s Day while on the road or at home:
01. Order room service
Breakfast in bed is a classic Father’s Day treat, and just because you don’t have a kitchen doesn’t mean you can’t surprise dad with a tasty morning meal. If you’re staying in an apartment, plan ahead and pick up omelet ingredients, fruit and coffee or juice at a local market or grocer.
02. Book him spa treatment
My husband would never book himself a massage. Since I know he enjoys them I take pleasure in booking them for him for special events. Be sure to ask about Father’s day specials and sales! If your hotel spa seems too pricey Google some places nearby for a better deal.
03. Plan a surprise outing
Planning a fun family outing is always a great way to spend the day. Put the emphasis on dad by choosing something he has been wanting to do: a fishing excursion, a wander through a market or festival, a museum outing or a simple picnic in a park (make it easy by picking up take away!)
04. Put together a slide show
If you travel with your computer or smart phone (odds are you will have one of these with you) put together a short video montage or slide show with trip memories and a few oldie-but-goodies thrown in for good measure. Even easier: A quick recording of your kids wishing him love and a happy father’s day is something he can enjoy now, and years later when they are all grown up.
05. Give him a break
If dad appreciates a bit of alone time – particularly hard to find when on the road – sneak away so he can have a quiet nap, hit the hotel gym or play a round of golf. Simply take the kids on an outing he won’t be sad to miss, (or plan his break for nap time.)
