Product Description: The Deuter Kid Comfort II child carrier is a 6-lb, 1-oz backpack with a five point harness, waist strap, aluminum frame, foldout stand and storage. Can be used for kids up to 48.5 lbs. Optional add-ons include sun/rain cover (USD$39) and camel back (around USD$33).

Note: We have been using this pack for travel and casual walks/hikes only.

Cost: USD$239.00.

Can be purchased at REI or Amazon.

  • Great for travel, can check free as you would a stroller (with United anyway).
  • One adult can easily load and lift child onto back.
  • Keeps kids up and away from stray dogs, and avoids strollers on uneven or nonexistent sidewalks.
  • Fairly lightweight.
  • Lots of storage for diapers, snacks, etc.
  • Waist strap takes the burden off your shoulders.
  • Removable chin pad is washable.
  • Our son, Bronson, loves the elevated perspective.

  • The price, considering the pack is $239 it seems like the rain/sun cover should be included.
  • Somewhat to stiff to begin with, straps definitely need to be broken in.
  • Somewhat bulky.
  • No dedicated storage space for the sun/rain cover.
  • Sun/rain cover doesn’t offer protection for legs.

Recommendation: Yes, we would recommend this product to a friend, but would recommend trying to find a used one first to keep the cost down.

Wow, that was a nice child carrier, parents with toddlers should have one of this. Same with Piggyback Rider – this child carrier is very convenient for travel. For toddlers 2.5 y/o + up to 60lbs, try Piggyback Rider standing child carrier and you’ll surely enjoy your adventure. 🙂
